Phil Ivey has been referred to as the number one poker player in the world by quite a few of the top-ranked professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before reaching turning one. His papa taught Phil one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was hooked on poker and wished to discover every little thing he possibly could about the game. Phil routinely told his grandparents that he was going to be a professional poker player. He did not permit the negative comments from other people annihilate his goal of being one of the strongest poker players on the planet.
Phil began playing seriously after getting a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his skills at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. He became known at the 2000 WSOP where he achieved 2 final tables and won his first WSOP bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the final table he defeated many of the better known pros including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil decided to take his game to the successive level and headed out west to Sin City. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Phil credits his achievements to discipline and an undying passion for poker. He states that he’s picking up skills every day and is incredibly humble about his accomplishments. Phil admits to making mistakes every single game of poker and always aspires to improve.
Despite the fact that Phil has won some large tournaments, he favors destroying cash games on a regular basis.
