Focus on Annie Duke
September 20th, 2010 by Angeline

Annie Duke may not have won her 1st WSOP Bracelet until 2004 but she is one of the most powerful poker competitors at the ring games at The Bellagio in Las Vegas. Annie’s long-overdue World Series of Poker bracelet came with success at the "buried game" of Omaha hi lo.

While players from the "younger generation" of poker run crazy following a large win at the tournament, Annie goes home to be "mom" to her 4 kids. She was born in New Hampshire and raised into a family of poker players. If you do not accept that, watch her brother, Howard Lederer, in action who coached her how to bet on the game.

However, Annie Duke is no small-potatoes girl and has succeeded at her cut of hard tables, including eliminating Howard along the way on several occasions. They’re both players that have the skill to win the huge bucks and do so with a smile.

Annie is a tough player at any table considering that she is a legitimate poker player, but it is a little more than simply being good at the game. Mrs. Duke is surprisingly intelligent and graduated from Columbia University where she double majored in Psychology and English.

When you take a seat across from Annie at the table you know she is there to play the game and she begins "summing" you up from the time you join the table. If you can not play like a camp, then do not waste your time.

Acquiring over $3 million in tournament competitions, Annie Duke branched out to become a adviser to both the UltimateBet website and Hollywood actor Ben Affleck, who wanted to enhance his skills and grow into a power at the tables.

You will likely glimpse her at the Bellagio, you’ll definitely observe Annie on the tv and you might even participate against her in an online poker game, but don’t anticipate an easy win. Except of course you’re a champion-in-the-making, you won’t beat her. However, it would be fun to mention you played at the same table as "The Duke".
