One point to keep in mind, any kind of Texas hold’em probabilities can and usually do get very confusing. On the other hand, let me break pot probabilities down in incredibly basic terms. Please note that we are only discussing Pot Probabilities. Not outs, implied probabilities, simple probabilities or anything else like that.
In short, pot probabilities are the odds you have when determining the ratio of the amount of money in the pot to the quantity of money it will cost you to call the wager.
For instance, let us say you’re heads up with Gambler A. If there’s 150 dollars in the pot after the flop and Gambler A places a 20 dollars wager it’s going to charge you only thirteen per-cent of the pot to stay in the hand. If your likelihood of winning is greater than 13 % it’s a no-brainer to call because you’ll have great pot odds.
That’s all there is to it actually. Holdem pot odds boils down to one thing. If your chance of succeeding is much better than the ratio of the pot size to the wager then you could have excellent pot odds. If it’s lower than you have bad pot probabilities.
One more thought about Texas hold’em pot odds. You are still playing the player much more so than something else. Bet on the player additional than your starting hands or the size of the chip stack and even, yes the pot probabilities.
