[ English ]

Phil Ivey has been labeled as the best poker competitor on the globe by quite a few of the top-ranked pros. He was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before reaching turning one. His grandpa taught him penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was addicted to poker and wanted to pickup everything he possibly could about poker. He routinely told his grandparents that he was planning on being a professional poker player. He didn’t permit the adverse feedback from other people annihilate his ambition of becoming one of the strongest poker competitors on the planet.

He began playing seriously after acquiring a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his skills at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The beginning few years for Phil were a learning period and winning wasn’t a normal outcome at the time. He became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he made 2 final tables and won his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the closing table he destroyed many of the better known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He decided to take his game to the successive level and headed out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Phil credits his success to discipline and an eternal love for the game of poker. Phil states that he’s learning every day and is very abashed about his success. Phil admits to making errors every single session of poker and always strives to improve.

Even though Ivey has come first in some big-time tournaments, he likes winning money games on a regular basis.
