Gus Hansen had a marvelous year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only gambler to achieve last table in 3 of the tournaments. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You might remember one of the biggest pots in high stakes poker history against Daniel Negreanu. He won a huge pot with quads against Daniel’s full house. Gus has made many televised poker appearances and is deemed to be one of the greatest gamblers around the world. While participating in web poker, a different side of Hansen has appeared. Gus frequently participates in the 200/400 No Limit max buy-in of Forty Thousand dollars. Hansen usually buys-in for the min of Sixteen Thousand dollars and gambles very weak. He waits patiently for a decent hand and then pushes all in. I believe Gus is an amazing poker player but not even close to the everyday players at 200/400no limit. Unless Gus is bankrupt, he has absolutely no reason to settle at the game with the min buy in.
Buying in for the minimum takes most of the ability out of big stack poker. Hansen is presumed to be one of the best poker players in the world but he cannot buy-in for the full dollar value. I think tv can skew our perception of the real world sometimes. The greatest players anywhere in the world may be guys you have never heard of. Gus can be seen wagering on internet poker on Full Tilt. He generally plays in high stakes Omaha and Holdem. Gus has shown himself as a tournament player. Can he use his talents in money rounds?
