Gus Hansen had an amazing year on the WPT where he was the only one to achieve final game in three of the competitions. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You may remember one of the largest pots in big stakes poker history against Daniel Negreanu. Gus raked in a massive pot with quads against Daniel’s full house. Hansen has made many tv poker appearances and is considered to be one of the greatest enthusiasts anywhere in the world. While wagering on web poker, a different side of Hansen has been seen. Gus frequently plays in the 200/400 No Limit max buy-in of Forty Thousand dollars. Gus frequently buys-in for the minimum of $16, 000 and plays very weak. He waits for a good hand and then goes all in. I accept that Hansen is a great poker player but not even close to the everyday players at 200/400no limit. Unless he is bankrupt, he has no reason to sit at the game with the min buy-in.
Buying in for the min takes almost all of the skill out of deep stack poker. Gus is presumed to be 1 of the best poker players in the world but he can’t buy-in for the full amt.. I think tv can alter our view of the real world at times. The best players in the world could be guys you have never heard about. Gus can be seen betting on internet poker on Full Tilt. He commonly participates in high stakes omaha/8 and texas holdem. Gus Hansen has shown himself as a competition player. Can he use his skills in cash games?
