Net Big Stakes Poker- Who is Gus Hansen?
December 9th, 2020 by Angeline
[ English ]

Gus Hansen enjoyed a marvelous year on the WPT where he was the only participant to make it to the last game in three of the tournaments. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he paid $400, 000 to play. You might recall one of the biggest pots in big stakes poker history against Daniel Negreanu. Hansen secured a huge pot with quads against Daniel’s full house. Hansen has made many televised poker appearances and is thought to be one of the best players around the world. While wagering on net poker, another side of Hansen has appeared. He frequently competes in the 200/400 No Limit maximum buy-in of $40, 000. Hansen more often than not buys-in for the minimum of $16, 000 and gambles very weak. He sits there waiting for a decent hand and then pushes all in. I accept that Gus is an excellent poker player but not even close to the regular players at 200/400no limit. Unless he is bankrupt, he has little or no reason to play at the table with the min buy-in.

Playing for the min takes most of the ability out of big stack poker. Gus is assumed to be 1 of the best players in the world but he can’t buy-in for the full amount. I think television can alter our perception of the real world every now and then. The best poker players in the world might be players you have never heard of. Gus can be found participating in web poker on Full Tilt. He commonly competes in high stakes Omaha and texas holdem. Gus Hansen has proven himself as a tournament player. Can he back up his abilities in money games?
