Net High Stakes Poker- Who is Gus Hansen?
July 24th, 2021 by Angeline

Gus Hansen had a marvelous year on the WPT where he was the only gambler to make it to the last game in three of the tournaments. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he paid $400, 000 to play. You may recall one of the largest pots in big stakes poker recorded history against Daniel Negreanu. Hansen raked in a huge pot with quads against Daniel’s full house. Gus has earned many tv poker appearances and is thought to be one of the greatest enthusiasts anywhere in the world. While playing internet poker, a different side of Hansen has emerged. He frequently participates in the 200/400 NL max buy-in of Forty Thousand dollars. Gus generally buys-in for the min of Sixteen Thousand dollars and gambles very poorly. He waits patiently for a decent hand and then goes all-in. I know Gus is an amazing poker player but certainly not even close to the everyday players at 200/400NL. Unless Gus is bankrupt, he has little or no reason to play at the game with the min buy-in.

Playing for the minimum takes most of the ability out of deep stack poker. Hansen is accepted to be 1 of the greatest players anywhere in the world but he can’t buy-in for the total dollar value. I think television can alter our perception of the real world sometimes. The greatest poker players anywhere in the world could be players you have won’t have heard about. Gus can be seen wagering on online poker on Full Tilt. He generally plays in high stakes omaha eight-or-better and hold’em. Gus Hansen has shown himself as a competition player. Can he use his talents in cash games?
