Phil Ivey has been referred to as the greatest poker competitor on the planet by many of the top professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before his first birthday. His papa taught him penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was hooked on poker and wanted to learn every little thing he possibly could about poker. Phil routinely told his grandparents that he was going to be a professional poker player. He didn’t permit the adverse feedback from other people annihilate his ambition of becoming one of the best poker players in the world.

He began playing intently after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his techniques at the casinos of Atlantic City. The initial number of years for him were a learning opportunity and winning wasn’t a common thing at the time. He became known at the 2000 WSOP where he achieved two final tables and won his first WSOP bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the last table he destroyed many of the better known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil made a decision to take his game to the next level and headed out west to Sin City. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Ivey credits his achievements to hard work and a continuing love for poker. He says that he is learning every single day and is very humble about his achievements. Phil admits to making mistakes every single game of poker and constantly strives to improve.

Although Ivey has won some big tournaments, he likes winning money games on a regular basis.
