Online Big Stakes Poker- Gus Hansen
September 24th, 2023 by Angeline

Gus Hansen experienced a marvelous year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only player to achieve last poker table in 3 of the competitions. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You may remember one of the largest pots in high stakes poker history against Daniel Negreanu. Hansen won a massive pot with quads against Negreanu’s full house. Hansen has made many televised poker appearances and is considered to be one of the strongest gamblers around the world. While wagering on internet poker, a different side of Hansen has emerged. Gus frequently participates in the 200/400 NL max buy in of Forty Thousand dollars. Hansen generally buys-in for the minimum of Sixteen Thousand dollars and plays very poorly. He waits for a good hand and then pushes all in. I know Gus is an amazing poker player but certainly not even close to the regular players at 200/400no limit. Unless he is bankrupt, he has little or no reason to settle at the game with the minimum buy in.

Playing for the minimum takes a majority of the ability out of deep stack poker. Gus is presumed to be 1 of the best players anywhere in the world but he can’t buy in for the full dollar value. I think tv can skew our perception of the real world every now and then. The best players anywhere in the world may be guys you have won’t have heard of. Gus can be found competing in online poker on Full Tilt. He normally competes in high stakes omaha hold’em and hold’em. Gus Hansen has shown himself as a competition player. Can he use his talents in cash games?
